Professor Catherine Murphy was chosen as the head of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, making her the first female to serve in that roll in the department’s 152-year history. You can read the full press release here.

CSN faculty member Cathy Murphy, Larry Faulkner Endowed Chair in Chemistry at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, has been elected to the 2019 class of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. The Academy’s website states, “The American Academy of Arts and Sciences today announced the election of its new members for 2019. The new class of more than 200 members recognizes the outstanding achievements of individuals in academia, the arts, business, government, and public affairs.” Congratulations, Cathy!

CSN faculty member Cathy Murphy has been announced as the recipient of the 2019 Remsen Award, which is granted by the American Chemical Society Maryland Section. Dr. Murphy will present the Remsen Lecture on May 30 at the 47th Middle Atlantic Regional Meeting at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Congratulations, Cathy!
